Refractory bricks are vital components in various high-temperature kilns, and stacking techniques significantly affect their quality, service life and construction efficiency. First of all, it is crucial to choose a suitable storage site:

1. Level the ground

The site where refractory bricks are stacked should be level to prevent the bricks from tilting and collapsing due to uneven ground.

2. Moisture-proof measures

Refractory bricks should be kept away from moisture when stacked, and the stacking site should be equipped with good drainage facilities to prevent water from penetrating.

3. Good ventilation

The stacking site should maintain good ventilation conditions to prevent moisture accumulation and cause the bricks to become damp.

Tips for reasonable stacking of refractory bricks

Reasonable stacking methods can not only optimize the construction process, but also improve the overall quality of refractory bricks:

1. Stack refractory bricks in different parts separately

According to the requirements of different parts of the furnace, refractory bricks should be stacked separately.

2. Classification and stacking

Classify and stack the refractory bricks according to their composition, specifications and sizes to ensure that the required bricks can be found quickly during construction.

3. Stack according to construction order

Stack the refractory bricks in the first construction part as close to the transportation line as possible to improve construction efficiency.

4. Stack neatly

Refractory bricks should be stacked neatly, and only one incomplete brick of the same number is allowed to be stacked.

5. Detailed labels

All stacks of refractory bricks should be marked with type, number, size and location of use, and should be labeled in detail.

Channel settings between stacks of refractory bricks

In order to ensure smooth construction, the width of the channel between the refractory brick stacks is also extremely important:

  • Entrance channel: width not less than 600mm
  • Transport channel: width 2000~3000mm
  • The distance between the refractory brick pile and the wall: not less than 500mm

Height and method of stacking refractory bricks

The stacking requirements of refractory bricks must also be strictly followed to ensure the stability and safety of stacking:

  • Standard refractory bricks: unit weight is less than 12kg, 12, 16 or 20 bricks are arranged sideways on each layer, and the height of each pile shall not exceed 1.9m
  • Unit weight is more than 12kg: stacking right-angle refractory bricks or special-shaped refractory bricks, the height shall not exceed 1.8m
  • Standard refractory brick stacking: use 5 side bricks as a group, each group of 4 groups of side bricks are stacked in a square shape, 20 bricks per layer, the height is calculated as 15 side groups, each pile has a total of 300 bricks

Stacking direction and stability of refractory bricks

The stacking direction of refractory bricks is critical to stability:

1. Side stacking

Refractory bricks are usually stacked on the sides to avoid the situation where some special-shaped refractory bricks must be laid flat. Side-stacked bricks are resistant to cracking and easy to use.

2. Alternate direction

No matter what stacking method is used, the direction of the upper layer of refractory bricks must be opposite to that of the lower layer to ensure that the brick stack is stable and improve construction safety.
